Three people connected Tofu from Claude, and none of them made an app.

Between 5 and 21 October 2026, three accounts found Tofu inside Claude, connected it, signed up in the same minute, and stopped. When we looked on 23 October, none of them held a project. Here is what our records showed, what we changed, and the one test we have not run.

Updated

The short version

Three people connected Tofu in Claude and none of them got as far as putting an app online. The product worked as built; the first screen assumed they already had an app, which is exactly what someone arriving through a chat assistant usually does not have yet. We changed four things: a missing page, the empty list's next step, importing a public GitHub repository from the chat, and the words in our directory listing.

What we have not done is watch a stranger go from “connect” to “online” without help. That is the test that says whether the changes worked.

What we saw

All three arrived the same way: someone added Tofu to Claude, approved the connection on Tofu's own page, and created an account inside that approval. The records show the connection and the account within the same minute — one on 5 October, one on 19 October from Japan, one on 21 October from France. After that, nothing: no app, no deploy, no second visit that made anything.

Reading the flow the way they met it, four things were wrong:

  • The listing described uses for apps people already had. Someone starting from nothing had no reason to think the connector was for them.
  • Asked for its projects, the connector answered with an empty list and nothing else. A person reading that in a chat sees a tool that found nothing to do, not an invitation to make a first app.
  • Importing code from GitHub existed for a coding agent on your computer, not in the chat, so the one path a chat-first person could take was missing.
  • The dashboard's hint about the chat linked to an English docs page that answered 404 — the page existed, its address did not.

What we changed

  • The missing page. The chat documentation now answers at its English address, written for someone who has not connected anything yet.
  • The empty list. Asked for projects with none, the connector now says where a first app starts and how to send it a folder, instead of returning nothing.
  • GitHub from the chat. A public repository can be imported in the chat, so an app that lives on GitHub needs no folder on anyone's computer.
  • The listing. Its first sentence now names Tofu the way a person searches for it, and its examples start from “I have an idea” rather than “I have an app”.

The guide for an app made with Claude and the chat documentation carry the path those four changes make possible.

What we still do not know

Nobody on the team has finished that path as a stranger would. Our own rehearsal — a fresh Claude account, a page asked for and put online — did not get past the first message: the account we used had spent its weekly quota, so Claude never answered. That is a test still to run, and we will write down what it shows either way.

The connector's directory entry is in review as this is written. Until it is listed, arriving from Claude depends on knowing the address already, which is how all three of the people above found it.

How to try it

Add Tofu to Claude or ChatGPT from the chat documentation, then ask for a page and for it to go online. Nothing on your computer is needed, and no key goes into the chat. If something stops you, write to hello@trytofu.ai and tell us where: that is how the four changes above were found.
